Went Home to NY

I got to go home (to NY) finally after a year and half. I haven't been able to get up there in a while is because I didn't have anyway to go by myself, haven't had much money for it. The reason I was able to go now was because my Grandmother passed away, my Mom bought me a plane ticket. I really wanted to be around my family. I was really happy to finally be home and see all the familiar faces that I'm used to. Sometimes really sad occasions bring family together.
(My Nana, Mary E. Mikulski )
Mary E. Mikulski, 75, went to be with her Lord on April 1, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her parents Rev. Leslie and Barbara Mae Fields; sisters, Louise Amar, Nettie Woolfolk, Rhoda Fields and brothers Leslie Fields, Jr. and Gilbert Fields. She is survived by her four children Daniel Mikulski, Keira Williams, Adam Mikulski and Debra Keyser; eight grandchildren Chesarae Archer, Nathan Archer, David Mikulski, Daseana Barnett, Danel Mikulski, Kira Soliven, Deanna Wood, and Dakeisha Wood; seven great-grandchildren Jaron Archer, Janiya Archer, Nathan Archer III, Raven Archer, Jaden Branch, Kingston Branch, Julian Adams and Taliq Mikulski. She is also survived by her sisters Dorothea Cornwell, Lillie Colvin, Saundra Wilson, Margie Powell and brother Walter Fields; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was born, raised and graduated in Binghamton, NY and lived in Ithaca for the last few years. She was a retired employee of IBM. She was the Choir Director and member of her father's church, Our Free Will Baptist Church, for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and compassion shown to their mother by the staff at the Cayuga Ridge Extended Care. A special thank you to Doris Kusznir.

I took a plane for the first time ever in my life, It was the quickest way for me to get up to NY, and I was only going to be able to stay there for three days. Not only was it my first time, I was going by myself. I was scared to death, it ended up being ok, but I would still avoid flying as much as possible. If I could somehow know for a fact that the plane is not going to crash, then it would be all good.

I was happy to see my nephew, he is 3 already, he'll actually be 4 soon. He's getting so big, I would like to see him more often. I haven't seen my other nephews in a while either, I didn't get to see them while I was up there. One of the nights a bunch of the family went to Apple Bees for dinner, it was fun. I also had a lot of fun hanging out with my Cousins and Brother another night, we went out to a club. I wish things could be like that more often

I plan on going back up there in July, I should be able to stay a bit longer and visit with family that I haven't got to see in a long while. I can't wait!

Sparkle

I filmed a Sparkle Hair tutorial, which was also supposed to be for Black History Month. Sparkle is one of my favorite movies, it came out in the 1970's. That's where I got the idea for my Youtube name SeanaSparkle. As I was editing the video, I decided that I don't really like it, I think it can be done better, so... I think i'm going to try and re-do this video and upload it another time.

Drawing of Dorothy Dandridge

I did a drawing of Dorothy Dandridge, which I did for Black History Month. I kind of struggled with getting het mouth to look right, I kept going back and changing it. This is the best I can get it.

I made a video of me drawing it.

Dorothy Dandridge Inspired Hair and Makeup

I filmed a Dorothy Dandridge inspired hair and makeup tutorial. It was meant to be for Black History Month, but I waited til the last minute and didn't finish on time. I filmed a few videos for Black History Month. Here are some pictures I took for Dorothy Dandridge video.

My Big Chop/ My Natural Hair

So I'm back finally with a new post. If you watch my beauty channel on youtube then you would know that recently, like a few weeks ago, I cut my hair, did the big chop. I've been transitioning from relaxed to natural now for 14 months. I just felt the urge to do it now, I felt like my new growth wasn't too short, and I hate my hair being too short. I also just couldn't wait to be fully natural so I can play with my curls and see what they're like. I wish I knew that I had curls like this, or I would of been natural along ass time ago lol. I also feel that my hair will be long again before I know it, I think my hair grows pretty fast. So I'm on a new hair journey to get my natural hair to grow, I will be making videos on update of my hair, on how i'm taking care of it and tracking the growth. I think it will achieve a good amount of length by the summer. I will also keep trying to update this blog with my natural hair journey and with pictures.

I straightened my hair right after I cut it. So this is my length.

My natural curls, my hair is slick back into a ponytail puff. I style it damp I just have some oils in it (coconut, olive oil, moroccan oil) and conditioner. I used eco style gel to smooth it down.

Purple Hair

I did purple highlights in my hair back in December, I did the highlights in my bangs, and then I dyed the whole bottom half of my hair purple. I love it. I used the Splat dye kit in Lusty Lavender. It is very messy though, you have to be careful, it will stain your skin and it's hard to get out. I've learned my lesson. I know that if i re-dye it then I need to take extra precautions of not getting on my skin. I had dye all over my face, ears, shoulders, and all over the back of my neck. regular soap will not wash it off. I found out that toothpaste works, that's what i ended up using to get it off. it did pretty much work. My scalp was stained wicked bad. But I enjoyed the purple hair lol.

Also in these pics, I have in some extensions. The extensions are about a couple inches longer than my hair.

Candie's Girl

I had fun taking these pictures, They are inspired by the Candie's campaign. The Candie's collection only at Kohl's lol. But yeah I did a makeup tutorial for this look and decided to take pics that were mainly inspired by Hayden Panettiere's and Vanessa Huden's photo shoots that they did for Candie's. I really liked them, they look so fun, cute, and girly and I just wanted to do something like that. I also included the Hayden and Vanessa pics that I liked that pretty much inspired me to do this makeup look and take these pictures.
